Merchant risk & verification

Merchant Onboarding & KYC/KYB

Merchant onboarding and verification intelligence, with every decision evidenced.

A merchant onboarding platform that collects applications and documents, verifies businesses and the people behind them through partner and official sources, screens them against sanctions lists, reviews their websites, assigns an MCC and risk category, and routes each application through a two-person review with a complete audit trail.

The problem

What goes wrong without it

Built for businesses onboarding merchants or sellers, payment aggregators and gateways, platforms and marketplaces, lenders onboarding businesses.

01

Approvals that nothing checked

Onboarding tools that mark a PAN or bank account 'verified' without a real check leave a record an auditor cannot rely on.

02

Evidence scattered across tools

Documents, verification results, screening hits and reviewer decisions live in email and spreadsheets.

03

One person decides

High-risk merchants approved by a single reviewer, without the second look regulators expect.

How it works

From request to outcome

From application to approval
  1. Application and consent
  2. Business identifiers verified
  3. Directors, partners and beneficial owners
  4. Bank account validated
  5. Documents read and cross-checked
  6. Sanctions screening and PEP declarations
  7. Website and checkout review
  8. MCC and risk category
  9. Maker-checker approval
  10. Ongoing monitoring

Capabilities

What you get

Onboarding

  • Guided merchant onboarding

Step-by-step application covering business, people, bank, website and documents, with field-level send-backs.

  • Consent capture

Versioned consent recorded before any verification runs, and withdrawable.

  • Document collection and classification

Required documents per entity type, with automatic document-type detection.

  • OCR document reading

Documents read with OCR and cross-checked against what the merchant declared.

  • AI-assisted document reading

In development: Being built; available for design partnerships and early access.

AI extraction of document fields, released only after a data-protection review; personal data is screened before it leaves the platform.

Verification

  • PAN, GSTIN and CIN/LLPIN verification

Partner-enabled: Delivered with, or dependent on, a regulated or specialist partner.

Checked through authorised verification partners and official sources where applicable; a result is only recorded as verified when a real check returned it.

  • Bank account validation

Partner-enabled: Delivered with, or dependent on, a regulated or specialist partner.

Penny-drop account validation through a banking partner, with name matching.

  • Directors, partners and beneficial owners

Key-person details and PAN checks; beneficial ownership computed from direct and indirect holdings against configurable thresholds.

  • Entity matching

Declared names compared with names returned by verification sources and found on the merchant's website.

Risk and review

  • Sanctions screening and PEP declarations

Every business, person and holding entity screened against the UN consolidated list and maintained domestic lists; possible matches go to a reviewer. Politically exposed persons are captured by declaration and raise the risk category; PEP database screening is available through specialist providers.

  • MCC and risk categorisation

MCC and low / medium / high risk category from a versioned policy, raised by PEPs, ownership structure and website signals.

  • Approval gate and maker-checker

Configurable checks that must pass before approval; one reviewer recommends, a different reviewer approves, a senior reviewer for high risk.

  • Evidence and audit trail

Append-only records of verifications, screenings, decisions and who made them.

  • Ongoing monitoring

Re-screening when lists change, periodic KYC updation reminders by risk category, and GSTIN and website re-checks.

Scope and responsibilities

  • PayVizio is not a government KYC authority. Verification results come from partner providers, authorised data sources, official sources where applicable, and documents the customer provides.
  • Approval decisions stay with the regulated entity using the platform; PayVizio provides the workflow, evidence and controls.
